No honest person can read what God said about and did to the people of Sodom and Gomorrah and still claim that He accepts the homosexual lifestyle and welcomes sexual deviants into the Body of Christ. Incredibly, 70% of American adults–the same percentage who claim to believe what He wrote in the Bible–profess that homosexuality is one of several ways that He allows man to express his love. In 2 Peter 2:6 the apostle writes about the homosexual episode as a warning for those who would live the “ungodly” lives of the Sodomites. He describes these people as those who “know the righteous judgment of God,” who know that “those who practice such things are worthy of death,” who nevertheless practice sexual deviance while approving of others who do also (Rom. 1:32).

In Leviticus 18:22,23 the Lord warns males not to have sex with other males, equating the practice to having sex with animals. He calls both acts “abominable” and “perverted.” In 23:17 He condemns both temple “prostitutes” (females) and “perverts” (males) who made their services available to worshipers.

In Ezekiel 16:49,50 the Lord accuses the people of Sodom of a number of sins. The words “homosexual” and “gay” did not exist in those days. However, queerness is given as the cause of God’s deadly wrath in several passages. Some Truth-deniers claim that He killed the deviates because the ate too much and were idle. Such nonsense does not warrant a response. It is true that they were guilty of those sins, but God makes it clear that He killed them because they were queer.

In Isaiah 1:5-9 God warns the Jews that they are diseased from their hair to their heels. Because of sin, strangers were taking everything from them. In verse 9 Isaiah notes that if it was not for a tiny remnant of true believers, the Lord would destroy Judah as he had Sodom and Gomorrah whose sin was sexual deviance. He had burned them to ash. In 3:9 the Lord chastised Judah because she was acting out her sins just as had Sodom. And like the Sodomites, the people of Judah would bring destruction upon themselves.

In Romans 1:26,27 we find the Lord saying that he “gave up to vile passions” women who had unnatural sex with other women and burned with lust toward one another. He did the same to men who lusted after other men because they did not keep Him in their minds. Note that he “gave them up” to their homosexual desires. This proves that they were not born sexually deviant, but at some point had begun to lust after those of the same sex. Seeing that they were determined to go in that spiritual direction, God “gave them up” to their desires. God allows man to do what he wants. He does, however, reserve the right to reward or punish man according to the choices he makes. In 2 Peter 2:6-10 the apostle relates how God had turned the people and buildings of Sodom and Gomorrah into ash as an example of His attitude toward the “ungodly”–the “wicked” whose “Lawless deeds,” which he describes as “lusting after uncleanness,” had stirred up His wrath.

In 1 Timothy 1:8-10 the Almighty places homosexuals (“Sodomites”) in the same sin category as Lawless, ungodly, unholy, profane, murderous, fornicating, kidnapping, lying, perjuring rebels.

In Jude 7 the apostle notes that God will judge those who died in Sodom and Gomorrah, who had “given themselves over to sexual immorality and (had) gone after strange (same sex) flesh.” Note that the men had not been born queer, but had succumbed to Satan’s call to be queer by “giving themselves over to” his call. These people, Jude tells us, will be “set forth as an example by suffering the vengeance of eternal flames.”

The problem presented by sexual deviants involves attitude on two fronts: 1) THEY DO NOT IDENTIFY SEXUAL DEVIANCE AS SIN AND 2) THEREFORE REFUSE TO GIVE IT UP. If a thief wanted to join a church but refuse to acknowledge his sins and give them up, how many churches would welcome him into the fold? None (unless he was rich). However, sex deviants who proudly display their abomination are welcomed with open arms. Not only are they not required to repudiate their lifestyle and turn to the Biblical God, they are allowed to continue in their sins uncondemned.  THE SINNER IS NOT FORCED TO CHANGE; GOD AND THE CHURCH DO THE CHANGING. IN THEIR ZEAL FOR ACCEPTANCE, INCLUSION, ETC. “LOVING CHURCHES” ALLOW THE DEVIATES TO COME AS THEY ARE AND STAY AS THEY ARE.  SUCH, THEY ARE TOLD, IS THE LOVE OF GOD. Invariably, the leaven (sexual deviance) leavens the loaf (church) which, by supposedly “operating in God’s love,” the church eventually recognizes “good as evil and evil as good,” just as God said would happen when men turn away from Him and His Word. In the case of sexual deviance, this switch always leads to queers in the pulpit. L.J.
