The word “president” carries a great deal of weight both nationally and internationally. In societies in which the people choose their leaders, voting allows them to present to the world the best they have to offer–a condensed version of what they believe the nation to be, or in some cases, what they want the nation to become. When a nation elects it highest leader she is proclaiming that the electee embodies the qualities that are most important to the people of that nation. In sum, the character of a nation can be discerned by examining the characteristics of her elected leader.

A recent Quinnipiac University presidential poll found that 70% of the adult respondents would not object to the United States electing a homosexual president. This did not surprise me in that I have been chronicling the nation’s moral decline for a number of years in newspaper articles, on this website and on my YouTube site that can be viewed at proveallthingsofgod. I am not shocked that liberals want a social and spiritual deviant in the White House–the more deviant the better. The ideal liberal candidate would be a homosexual, cross-dressing, transgenderite who is married to a goat of the same sex. If such a being could be found the democrats would not have to bother with a nominating process. This being would be selected by acclimation. Nothing the left does surprises me.  What does surprise me about this poll is that 46% of responding republicans found nothing wrong with electing a queer to the nation’s highest office. In order to explain my shock, allow me to look at this situation from a moral viewpoint, which automatically makes me not only wrong, but evil. If the left calls me evil, I must be doing something right.

Republicans overwhelmingly affiliate themselves with “Christianity.” By in large, the majority of republicans are Bible owners who profess to believe that the Book contains God’s will which they claim to obey to some degree. After all, the Bible contains EVERYTHING professing Christendom knows about God. Without the Holy Scriptures man knows literally NOTHING about the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. Therefore it stands to reason that the 70% of the American population who claim to be Christians vote in accordance with God’s description of Christian character, lifestyle (“walk”), words, thoughts, deeds, etc. It stands to reason that they vote for those who, like themselves, live by the principles found in the Bible they have in their homes, offices, briefcases, purses, shirt pockets, cars, etc. With that in mind let us return to the subject of this series–gays and government–by consulting God’s Holy Bible in search of His attitude toward sexual deviance. In so doing we will also discover His attitude toward those who, though not necessarily queer themselves, nevertheless approve of what is being called an “alternative lifestyle” which, according to “homosexual Christians,” is approved by the Lord Himself. In John 17:17 Jesus Christ stated that God’s Word is Truth. That being true, let us search out His Truth concerning the homosexual issue.

We are told in 2 Peter 1:21 that holy men of old spoke (and recorded) what God spoke to them through His Holy Spirit. In 1 Corinthians 10:11 we are told that His Words were recorded on behalf of God’s people who would be living on earth at the end of the age just prior to the return of His Son. These are those “upon whom the ends of the world have (will) come.” Those who know their God and believe what He says know that we are living in the last days of the last age. In anticipation of Christ’s soon return, God’s people are commanded to “study (His Word) in order to be approved” by Him (2 Tim. 2:15) which is necessary for salvation. The Words found in His Holy Bible are inspired by Him and “are profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness” (2 Tim. 3:14-16) which is necessary for salvation. In other words, God has provided his Word/Truth that serves as His spiritual roadmap that will lead true believers/obeyers into His eternal kingdom. Those who believe Him will follow that map exactly, knowing that any deviation will send them in the wrong direction. If it involves God’s commands and man’s obedience to those commands, it is addressed in the Scriptures either directly or indirectly. In the following postings we will examine God’s Word where He states in no uncertain terms His view (the only view that counts) relative to the sexual deviance issue. “Deviant” means to be different from what is considered normal. In this “Christian nation” we profess to use God’s Word as the “norm.” Do we? This series will answer that question. L.J.
