Freedom: God’s Promise Versus Man’s Quest (Pt. 1)

“Defund the police” has become the anthem of a large part of the American society.  The real meaning, which they will not admit, is to do away with the system of law that governs this society.  The reason I am using modern America as my example is because she leads the world in every category of evil.  Unfortunately, where America leads, the world follows–so far.  This will rapidly change as she wallows ever deeper in the sewer that she has created for herself through her rebellion against the God she claims to trust.  In spite of her hypocrisy she still hangs on to the thread of leadership that remains attached to the fabric of international life.  When that thread breaks, which is very soon, she will be attacked, slaughtered, defeated and the few who remain alive will be taken into slavery in the lands of her conquerors, along with her industries.  Following massive nuclear attacks, this once God-blessed land will be covered with nuclear fallout which will render her unfit for habitation.

Man despises law, always has and, until Christ returns, will continue to do so.  Man wants freedom–freedom to do what he wants to do.  Mankind has always resented authority to some degree.  Of late his hatred of the law has reached epidemic proportions.  Western society, with America pointing the way, leads in the category of personal and national contempt toward rules and regulations.  So much so that the word “freedom,” which so many are clamoring for, has come to mean freedom FROM law rather than freedom IN and UNDER the law.  The difference in attitude determines whether a society is blessed or cursed, lives or dies.  But social man does not understand this Truth that is plainly laid out in the most purchased, least understood Book ever printed–the Holy Bible.  Those who own that Book reject its contents just like the world with which they identify.  Both are Biblicly defined as “antichrists.”  I will save that subject for a future series.

Personal and national contempt for law is not confined to the secular world.  It has become the foundational principle of most “Christian” teachings being put forth as “Bible truth” today.  Such “truth” teachings proclaim that obedience to the Law of God is not a requirement for salvation as it was in ancient times.  Why do 2.5 billion professing Christians “stumble at the Law” in today’s world exactly as they did in the days of the Prophet Malachi (2:8)?

The church world today believes that the Law of the Old Testament God was faulty, and that Jesus Christ came to earth to abolish it, along with the rest of the “old ways,” often referred to as “that Jewish stuff.”  Jesus Himself proclaimed that He did not come to destroy the Law, but to fulfill it, meaning to personally exhibit it to its fullest extent (Mat. 5:17)–to place it on full display by manifesting it in human form.  He was, as written in John 1:1-4, “the Word/Law made flesh.”  It was prophesied that the Messiah would come to earth in order to “magnify the Law and make it honorable”–to restore it to its original status (Isa. 42:21).  He did this through His words, thoughts and deeds–His “walk.”  In 1 John 2:6 we are commanded to “walk as He walked” if we are going to call ourselves by His name.  GOD’S TRUE SAINTS ARE HIS LAW IN HUMAN FORM, EXACTLY AS WAS JESUS OF NAZARETH.

So why are we told in our first Sunday School class and throughout the remainder of our lives that we are “not under the Law but under grace.”  The confusion comes when people do not understand that God created more than one law.  Two of the Laws we are commanded to obey today.  A third law was “nailed to the cross.”  Man tends to lump the three laws together and attack them with hammer and nails.  This is a deadly mistake as the Lord makes clear in the Holy Scriptures.  The three Laws created by the Lord are 1) His moral Law called the Ten Commandments which were written by the Lord Himself, 2) His statutes and judgments which were written by Moses and 3) the law of blood sacrifice, also written by Moses.  The differences among these laws is the subject of this series.  What you are about to learn is not only not understood by the vast majority within professing Christendom, it is summarily rejected as a Satanic lie, even when read from the pages of the Holy Bible.  Why?  Because “the god of this world has blinded the MINDS of those who do not believe so that the light of the glorious Gospel/Word/Law of Christ, Who is the image of God, can shine on them” (2 Cor. 4:4).  In the following verse the Apostle Paul paints a beautiful picture of Christ as the One from whom the world receives God’s light (Word/Law/Gospel) and in Whom we can see the Word/Law presented as flesh in all its glory.

Jesus came to “magnify” the Law, meaning to show it in its spiritual context and intent.  He did this by what He said as recorded in Matthew 5 through 7.  Note His exact Words.  He would begin with: “You have heard ….” then He would quote a commandment, after which He would give its spiritual meaning.  For example: “You have heard that it was said by them of old, ‘You must not commit adultery.’  But I say to you that whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery already in his heart (mind)”–Mat. 5:27,28.  With the Words: “But I say to you ….” He presented the spiritual intent of the commandment.

The sacrificial law was instituted because of Israel’s sins.  The sacrifice of animal blood was symbolic of Christ’s sacrifice of His own blood.  It was the sacrificial “law that was added because of transgressions” (Gal. 3:19)–the breaking of the Ten Commandment Law–that was nailed to the cross of Christ.  That Law was meant to serve only until Christ came to shed His own blood for the remission of man’s sins.  During the Last Supper He made clear the fact that, from that time forward, His blood, not the blood of animals, would be the purifying agent.  In the next posting we will look at the “Law of the Lord” and the “law(s) of Moses.”  Unfortunately, the Institutional Church, in her zeal for self-government, has “thrown the baby out with the bath water.”  This deadly, Satan-prompted error has forced the Lord to pour out His wrath on both the churched and unchurched to cause them to see the error of their ways (walk).  COVID-19, the Afghanistan debacle, the border crisis, the burning of the West Coast, hurricanes destroying the Gulf Coast and the flooding of the East Coast and middle America are His latest messages.  Note that as soon as we get one under control, another rises up.  GOD IS SPEAKING; IS MAN LISTENING?  America leads the world in such “acts of nature” because she leads the world in her rejection of the God who wants to end those “acts” and Who tells her how to bring about their ending.  And still man rebels against Him and His Word.  Moses’ Words found in Genesis 6:5 apply to modern man: “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”  Recall that He killed every one of those people except Noah and his family.  As did those people, their spiritual descendants reject God’s remedy for their problems as recorded in 2 Chronicles 7:13-15.  Please read that passage carefully, noting Who sends the curses, why they were sent and how to prevent them from being sent.  L.J.
