Each of professing Christendom’s religious observances (Easter, Christmas, the Sunday Sabbath, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, Lent, Good Friday, Ash Wednesday) are of great importance to her highly diversified constituents with their hundreds of versions of the gospel (Gal. 1:6). Over the next several days I will be teaching about Easter, Lent and Good Friday by comparing what the church believes to what God says in His Holy Bible. I hope to open the eyes of those who want to see His Truth, believe and obey it. Jesus asked the Father in John 17:17 to sanctify the disciples by His (God’s) Truth, adding: “Thy Word is Truth.” My prayer is that those who read this website and watch my YouTube site (proveallthingsofgod) will have eyes to see and hears to hear His Word which speaks directly to them.
Over 1500 years before the birth of Jesus of Nazareth sun-worshiping societies throughout the earth were paying homage to their god by setting aside a day each week (Sunday-the “Venerable Day of the Sun”) for worshiping him. Equally important to sun worshipers was the day each spring set aside for honoring his mother. Throughout the history of man those who have worshiped and served the sun have far outnumbered those who profess to honor the Biblical God. It is from the weekly and annual celebrations of numerous heathen societies that the Sunday Sabbath, Easter, Lent and Good Friday were borrowed. That these heathen holidays are accepted and venerated by Catholics and Protestants is astonishing to those who reject them and damning to those who embrace them. God clearly commands those who seek Him to: “Learn not the ways of the heathen ….” (Jer. 10:2). As this series will prove, all beliefs and activities surrounding Easter are heathen in both historical origin and modern day practice. “But that’s not why I celebrate Easter” is a common response when a church person is introduced to God’s Word relative to the heathen holiday. WHY one celebrates Easter, Christmas, etc. is irrelevant. God commands us NOT TO DO IT. He commands that we “ABSTAIN FROM ALL APPEARANCE OF EVIL” (1 Thes. 5:22). In the eyes of the Biblical God, to observe a heathen holiday that honors a heathen god is not merely the appearance of evil, it is in fact pure evil because it is HONORING THAT GOD, thereby breaking the First Commandment of His Law. In the eyes of God this constitutes IDOLATRY. That is all His true saints need to know.
By keeping professing Christendom in ignorance of God’s Word, Satan has for many centuries prevented them from realizing that by celebrating “Easter” one is paying homage to a false god named Tammuz and his mother–the “Queen of Heaven,” whom God warns us about in Ezekiel 8. In verse 14 He refers to women “weeping for Tammuz” which relates to what is called the Lenten Season. Verse 16 refers to the idolatrous practice of observing “sunrise services” in his honor. In my ignorance I attended such services in the past. Having shown the prophet these things in a vision, God tells Ezekiel that because of those abominations, though the people cry out loudly to Him in prayer, “I WILL NOT HEAR THEM” (vs 18). Any church person who can’t understand why their prayers are not answered need look no further for the answer. For a more complete explanation of why church prayers are not answered and disaster continues to afflict church people (sickness, natural disasters, etc.) one should to study Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28.
The act of worshiping a pagan god in the name of the true God has historical roots that go back to Israel’s extraction from Egyptian slavery. In Exodus 32:1-6 we find the children of Israel (Jacob) yearning to return to Egyptian slavery. Aaron, being weak, has formed a bull calf (the Egyptians worshiped a bull calf god) out of their jewelry. Having gathered the people in front of the calf he proclaimed: “… this is your god who brought you out of the land of Egypt.” He then built an alter (place of worship) before the calf and told the people that the following day they would come together before the alter where they would observe a feast (celebration/holiday) “… unto the LORD”–the One Who brought them out of Egypt” (vss 1-6,8) and which would take them back to Egypt. The next day they gathered at the alter, bowed and paid homage to their god. In verse six we learn that the people brought burnt offerings and peace offerings to him, then sat down to eat and rose up to play (had a sex orgy). Self-professed Christians do the same thing every Sunday. Having desecrated the Lord’s Sabbath, which He “sanctified” and declared “holy,” they go to church on the pagan Sun God Day, present their offerings to him (pay tithes), make peace with their god (pray and sing), then go home where they sit down to eat and rise up to sin by observing the day of Tammuz on his day. As did their ancient spiritual ancestors, they do all “unto the Lord.” The celebration of Easter is done in the same manner and for the same reason. Catholics and Protestants perform their rituals to honor the Catholic/Protestant Church system and its false god–Satan. In this way the church has become Counterfeit Christianity’s golden calf.
Those who know the origin of Easter but continue to observe it are following in the spiritual footsteps of the Israelites at Mt. Sinai. They are bowing to Tammuz and his mother while professing to honor the Biblical God. Aaron would be proud. L.J.
