Satan’s demon spirits (fallen angels) work not only in the physical realm to cause disease and sickness, but also in the mental realm where they can cause a variety of problems, including total insanity.  Jesus dealt with them on a regular basis.  In the eighth chapter of Luke we find Him and His disciples arriving in the region of Gadara where they were met by a man “who had been afflicted by demons for a long time.  He went naked and lived in burial tombs.  When he saw Jesus he cried out, fell down before Him and shouted, ‘What have I to do with you, Son of the most High? I beseech You to torment me not,’ for Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man.”  The man was very strong and uncontrollable.  He had been chained and fettered but to no avail.  Through the power of the demon he had broken the chains and fetters.  The demon had often driven him into the wilderness.  Jesus asked the demon his name.  He said, “Legion” for many demons had entered the man.  At their request, Jesus cast them into a herd of pigs grazing nearby, causing them to run into a lake and drown (vss 26-33).  This episode teaches many lessons about demons.

As stated before, demons are powerful.  Being of many types they cause a variety of problems for those in whom they dwell.  They also attack people in groups.  The man of Gadara had many demons which had driven him insane.  As stated, demons can speak.  My first experience with talking demons took place when I received a call from a lady asking if I would cast out a demon that had been tormenting her.  Upon meeting her I commanded the demon to come out.  He said: “We’re not coming out.”  I knew then that I was dealing with more than one spirit.  One demon speaks for all.  I ask him (the lead demon) how many demons were inside the lady.  He replied: “Thirty-three.”  I commanded all of them to come out and they did.  I heard and saw nothing.  The lady told me they went out her right nostril.  As was the case of Jesus and the Gadarene man, these demons knew they had no choice but to come out.  When God’s power is evident, demons, though they sometimes resist, must come out.  Demons also have supernatural knowledge.  Recall that the Gadarene, who had never seen Jesus,  knew that He was the Son of God.  How?  By God’s power emanating from Him.  I once told a stranger something about herself that I had no way of knowing.  Not only did God tell me her sin, but also the type of people with whom she committed the sin.  She called me a man of God.  Very humbling.

Recall in the episode of the epileptic, the disciples could not cast the spirit out of the boy.  Why?  Because the demon knew they did not have the faith required to do it.  Demons know whom they must obey and whom they can ignore.  FAITH IS BELIEVING GOD’S WORD AND ACTING ON IT.  FEW HAVE CHRIST-LEVEL FAITH AND DEMONS KNOW WHO THEY ARE.  Recall in John 14:12 Jesus saying that those who believe in Him (having the same level of faith) would do everything He did, and even greater things.  That kind of faith heals the sick, casts out demons, raises the dead, walks on water, multiplies food ….

Demons reside in people who do not know they are there.  Some do not believe in their existance.  Many people are inhabited by demons which prompt them to do things they do not know are sins.  I once received a call in which I was asked to deal with a woman whom I had never met.  When I hung up the phone the Lord showed me a vision of Tarot cards.  I knew then that the woman was involved in the occult.  When I asked her about it she admitted that she was heavily into Tarot.  I cast out the occult demon.  On another occasion I was dealing with a woman who did not know that using a Wigi board to receive information from the spirit world was of the devil.  When I cast the occult demon out she suddenly began to spin around.  After a while she fell to the floor.

Fortune tellers and astrologers, along with tea leaf, Wigi board, palm and Taro card readers operate under the power of occult demons who reveal the truth in order to convince people to continue to consult the readers.  Believing that they are in God’s will, the people continue to use occultists.  In this way Satan keeps them in his church and therefore under his control.  I have watched fortune tellers tell people intricate details and facts concerning who, what, when, where, etc. that they had no way of knowing.  Because these people opporate in the spiritual realm, and the information they produce is right, it is assumed the occultist has God’s backing.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  The vast majority of those dispensing the information, as well as those receiving it, are Catholic.  Catholicism, called “Mystery, Babylon” in Revelation 17:1-5, lends itself to mysticism and occultism.  I know a woman who, while a Catholic, was known for her ability to render men unable to perform sexually.  Women whose husbands were cheating on them would hire her to perform her magic on them.  She was very successful and well known.  When she realized that her ability came from Satan she gave up her business and left the Catholic Church.

Demons enter people of all ages.  I once cast a demon out of an eight-year-old boy who was uncontrollable.  His behavior changed immediately.  Demons come out of people in a variety of ways.  I dealt with a woman who, when I met her I immediately saw a vision of a waste basket.  I told her brother to give her one.  The basket came in handy for the demon came out in the form of vomit. God has never failed me in that regard.  I earlier mentioned a woman whose demon caused her to spin around while coming out.  Some demons scream when cast out.  Some argue.  Some snarl and growl like animals.  Some exert other-worldly power in resisting being forced out, even to the point of attacking the minister.

Casting out a demon does not always require spoken words.  I was dealing with a man as we sat across a table from each other in a crowded cafe.  He was drunk and unable to understand what I was saying.  Not wanting to draw attention to us, I mentally commanded the demon of drunkenness to come out of him.  He was instantly sober, and admitted it.  Then I was able to deal with him.  L.J.
