The Church, The Bible And The Dispised Godhead (Pt. 7)

Earlier I mentioned the relativity of truth that has become an accepted mode of belief in these modern times. The phrase used to describe this phenomenon is “POST-TRUTH.” The concept of eternal and permanent truth having been rejected many years ago, we are now living in a time when truth is whatever one wants it to be (A) at the moment and (B) under the circumstance. This rule determines church thought and practice. But we must not place too much emphasis on what presently constitutes “truth.” That same “truth” will inevitably change over time as situations change. The beauty of this theological concept is that it is an individual matter. If you want a sin to be a virtue, simply visit around until you find a “church” that proclaims that “truth” and join up. Satan has a “church” ready to scratch any ear. In keeping with this universal church rule, a world-famous evangelist routinely ended his “alter calls” by telling the instantly saved, born again, rapture ready souls in front of him to go back home and “… join the church of your choice.” In other words, “one that scratches your ears the best.” A woman I know said that she joined a particular church “… because they do what I like to do.” This lady understands the “Post-Truth” principle perfectly.

Having been embraced by the church some 1700 years ago, the Post-Truth mindset has infected the entire society with its deadly venom. Since permeating the heart of both churched and unchurched, Post-Truth has allowed the world, particularly the church world, to create billions of gods who have taken to themselves the power to determine truth and error, right and wrong, righteousness and sin. Bible believers know that man’s first contact with Post-Truth theology took place in the Garden of Eden when the Serpent convinced Adam and Eve that what was at one time God-determined Truth was no longer Truth, that they themselves could determine truth.

In today’s anti-Bible church and social systems, “truth” changes every few years as each generation becomes more liberal than the previous one. While studying the Bible, much of which is prophecy relative to the “latter days,” I cannot help but notice the parallel between Bible prophecy (foretelling of the future) and the realities of the day. As I study the Scriptures it is as if I am watching the evening news. God was right–man has (A) judged Him and His Word, (B) found both wanting and (C) declared himself to be god and his Post-Truth “truth” to be real “truth.” And being god, man can change the definition of truth at his whim. Today, sin is sin only if man-god declares it to be sin. Indeed, man can and does declare sin to be evil and visa versa. God was right again–the time has arrived when man calls good evil and evil good (Isa. 5:20). Note that God declares WOE on those who commit this deadly error. Note that He did not exempt “sinners saved by grace.”

As noted earlier, Jesus declared in Luke 10:16 that to doubt one or more of His Words is to despise not only that Word or Words, but also Jesus Himself and God the Father. Jesus said in John 17:17 that God’s Word is Truth. And finally, in John 12:48 He declared that everyone ever born would be judged by that Truth, even those who have been supposedly “saved.” L.J.
