References to “the Day of the Lord” or “the Lord’s Day” can be found in several places in the Holy Scriptures. In almost every case the time element refers to the year-long period between the end of the Great Tribulation and the arrival of Jesus Christ to bring to an end man’s spiritual and physical corruption of earth. At that time Christ will establish God’s Kingdom from which Christ and His Very Elect will rule both the earth and the universe.
As I have shown in previous series, the world is now in its final days, knows Scripturally as the Laodicean era (Rev. 3:14-20). Man, under the leading of Satan, has polluted everything God created in perfection thousands of years ago. The patient, loving and gracious God of the universe and His Son have done everything possible to lead man to Themselves, but to no avail. Not even the Word’s coming to earth as a man and serving as the perfect example, not even His death and resurrection by which the Holy Spirit was made available to empower man to emulate the life of Christ, not even two thousand more years of calling out to rebellious man–many of whom have known the Truth–has resulted in the outcome the Godhead desired for Their most prized creation, that being righteousness and holiness resulting in eternal life (Rom. 5:21; 6:22). In spite of Their placing everything man needed to know in writing and preserving it to date; in spite of Their repeated warnings found in that most holy tome; in spite of Their sending Their prophets and apostles throughout the world speaking and writing their Words …. In spite of all that the Godhead has done and continues to do to get man’s attention, Their prophecies have unfortunately proven to be true–few have searched for, found and entered Their strait gate (church) then walked their narrow way that will lead to eternal life upon the arrival of the Master to clean up the mess man has made. At this point in this series we will look ahead to what is coming at us as the world as we have known it, and time as we have experienced it, come to an end.
What is taking place on earth, specifically in those nations that identify themselves as “Christian,” comes as no surprise to those who know their God for He has repeatedly warned them in His Holy Scriptures. As they watch every kind of sin and degradation take place before their eyes on the evening news, they are witnessing the Word of God coming to life on screens of various sizes as man’s worst enemy (Satan) turns man against his fellow man like never before in history. I need not go into detail concerning man’s inhumanity to man as it is displayed time and again for the world to see. The world should not be shocked due to the fact that current reality was prophesied repeatedly in the most purchased and most stolen Book ever printed. That Book describes in vivid detail what we are seeing take place and why.
And Who is either causing or allowing all of this to take place? Almighty God. Why? Disobedience. And we were warned, and warned and warned, time and time and time again in that Book everyone knows about but few know, and even fewer believe, and even fewer obey. In His infinite mercy and love, the Lord God arranged for two chapters in that Book to be focused solely on His plan for mankind and the rewards and consequences of obeying Him and disobeying Him. Again let me remind the reader to study Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28 where He tells us in language that a child can understand all we need to know to concerning the condition of the world and how to not be a part of it.
So what is “the Day of the Lord,” aka “the Lord’s Day?” I will introduce that day by using the description provided by the Prophet Joel: “For the Day of the Lord is GREAT (overwhelming) and VERY TERRIBLE; who can survive it?” (2:11). With that introduction alerting us as to what is coming on the earth, I will digress to a time a few years before the beginning of that year-long period, the terror and horror of which the mind of man cannot imagine. As Jesus said, it will be worse than all of the horrors man has endured throughout history–COMBINED– (Mat. 24:21). And bear in mind that He is describing the Great Tribulation which will serve as a warm-up for the Day of the Lord. The Great Tribulation is described as merely the “beginning of sorrows” (vs 8). Today we are seeing the initial shots across the bow that alert us to where we are time-wise relative to end-time prophecy.
In order to understand how incredibly horrible the Day (year) of the Lord will be, let us examine His Word concerning the years leading up to it. Hint: We are witnessing the Lord’s warning “voices” telling us that the Great Tribulation (the “beginning of sorrows”) is on the way. Today the world-leading United States of America is coming apart at the moral seams as the spiritual thread that has held her together for some 250 years (the church) is continuing to decay, allowing the spiritual perversion that she has been hiding for most of those years to be exposed through the light of television, the internet, etc. Led by the God-rejecting, Bible-hating Catholic/Protestant Church System, the supposed “One Nation Under God”–America the Beautiful, God’s light to the world–has become America the Ugly, Satan’s darkness that has spread her vileness over the entire earth. Confession: I have shed many a tear over my beloved country as I have watched her slide further and further away from God’s light and into Satan’s darkness. Led by Satan’s church, America has marched through his wide (Catholic/Protestant) gate and along his broad way leading to death and destruction (Mat. 7:13,14). The prophets warned; Jesus warned; the apostles warned; modern apostles continue to warn. But alas, the death beat goes on as masses of Bible-toting, Scripture-quoting, cross-wearing automatons march lock-step into Satan’s citadels of sin each sun god worship day to pay homage to, worship, serve and obey him. But still, God’s servants continue to warn. I understand why Jesus only had about 120 true followers at the time of His death. The numbers have increased very little since that time.
I stated earlier my BELIEF that the Great Tribulation will officially begin within four to six years, if not sooner. I believe that God is mercifully giving modern day Israel (the U.S., Britain and the Jews of the Middle East) that time to follow His commands found in 2 Chronicles 7:13,14. If this does not happen, I believe the Great Tribulation will soon arrive. The Tribulation is Bibically described as 2 1/2 years of hell on earth as Satan is allowed to pour out his hatred on sinning mankind. Then will come the Day of the Lord, a time when God Himself will send wave after wave of “woes” on mankind as He punishes sinners, including those supposedly saved by grace, for the way they treated His Son. This judgment, as the Apostle Peter warns us, has already begun IN THE CHURCH. Only the righteous within the true church will be saved (1 Pet. 4:17,18). The Day of the Lord will indeed be “great” and “very terrible.”
But for those who truly seek the Lord, a way will be provided by which they can avoid what is coming. These will be taken to “her (the church’s) place” (Rev. 12:14) where God’s Very Elect will be protected and provided for throughout the Great Tribulation and the Day of the Lord. Following the most trying time ever on earth which few will survive, Jesus will return to establish the Kingdom of God in the Promised Land. Read the Kingdom of God. Key word: Kingdom.
