Chapter 2
Verses eight and nine: Note the difference between Jesus Who leads in the ways of God and the false prophets who teach and lead those in the Institutional Church (Catholicism/Protestantism) in ways that are “not according to (the Words and deeds of) Christ.” Simply put, if anyone professing to be of the Lord says anything or walks in any way that is contrary to the Word and walk of Jesus, that person (preacher, teacher, parent, relative, street minister, etc.) does not belong to Him and does not serve Him. This perfectly describes professing Christendom’s leaders and parishioners. The God-directed purpose of this ministry is to bear witness to the Institutional Church that she is heathen to the core because she teaches, believes and obeys “the tradition of men and the basic principles of the world,” which are the antitheses of Christ’s Words. Those who speak such lies are the enemies of the Godhead. The Words spoken and written by God’s messengers are the Words by which everyone who has ever lived will be judged (Jn. 12:48. Compare how Paul characterizes the Word-rejecting false prophets (and those who follow them) in verse 8. Then note his description of the Lord: “in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily”–as a man (vs 9). The Messiah’s life is THE only example (walk) He has provided for those who seek Him. For if we profess to belong to Him we must “walk even as He walked” (1 Jn. 1:6). Anyone believing that John did not mean what he said, or that he was speaking in general terms should read 1 John 3:2,3,6&9,7,8, 10. See First John. As I stated in the postings titled First John, if I was forced to choose one Book of the Bible to have with me on a deserted island it would be First John. I recommend reading the entire book on a regular basis.
Verses ten through twelve: One who sins is not complete in Christ, for “in Him is no sin at all” (1 Jn. 3:5. Jesus is complete, lacking in nothing. In verse 10 Paul tells the people in the Colossian church that they are “complete in Him, Who is the head” of the body along with all principalities and powers. At this point I will employ the Isaiah 28:9,10 command of God concerning the study of His Word. I will go back to chapter 1 verse 22,23 where Paul states that the church will come before God in a state of righteousness, holiness and blamelessness (which are necessary for salvation) “IF you (and we) CONTINUE IN THE FAITH/GOSPEL (not church theology), grounded and steadfast”–believing and obedient to God’s Word. In other words, if we are IN HIM where there is “no sin at all.” In summary, if we continue to sin we cannot be “in Him” where there is no sin. CHRIST WILL NOT ALLOW A SINNER TO BE IN HIM–He and His saints have no relationship with them. See 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1.
Before going forward I would like all readers to do what I do occasionally–READ THE VERSES NOTED ABOVE FOUND IN FIRST JOHN 3. These verses remind me of exactly what God means by the expression “IN HIM.” If believed, they will forever destroy the Satanic “sinner saved by grace” excuse for church sin, just as Matthew 10:22 and Romans 13:11 expose the “I am saved and born again” argument professed by church people. Let us be Scripturally honest. Let us look to God’s Holy Word for the Truth God spoke, His Holy Spirit carried to earth and Jesus proclaimed in person and through His prophets and apostles (Jn. 17:17). L.J.
